Jeremy and I picked up Eve and Sarah yesturday morning, and had breakfast at Bouchon in the Venetian, apparently a well-known french bistro here in Vegas. My sourdough waffles with candied walnuts, berries and vanilla butter were awesome, and Eve had a very creamy spinach quiche.
Eve falls asleep waiting for the car to be fixed.

On the way to picking up Eve and Sarah at the Las Vegas Airport, I noticed that my car was hesitating and engaging very strangely. Sure enough, the check engine light came on just as we pulled in to the passenger pickup area. I had just had my 100,000 mile service on the CR-V, so I wondered if it was something my mechanic did. A call to my mechanic didn't clear anything up, and he recommended someone take a look at it. The problem only got worse as we drove from the Venetian to our hotel, and it was pretty scary driving down the packed Vegas Strip with my car threatening to stall on the way.
Eve has AAA, and though I had been meaning to sign up before leaving I didn't get around to it. Fortunately, she could call AAA and get a free tow to the nearest mechanic. After waiting an hour for the tow, he came and diagnosed the problem as a bad battery. This didn't seem right to me, since it wasn't just a loss of power, but rather loss of power with bursts of engagement in the engine. After he cleaned the battery terminals, the engine light went off, so we drove down to Autozone and bought a new battery. On the way back to the hotel, the problem reared its head again, and so I drove to the mechanic. Eve and I waited at a bar next door. This was her first day of vacation and we were doing nothing but waiting to get the car fixed. The mechanic replaced my spark plugs and wires, which seemed to fix it, it's been running fine now. On a long road trip, the last thing you want is car trouble. Fortunately it didn't cost me too much, just a half of a rest day of waiting.
